Goa University Research Studentship 2026-27

Overview

Goa University, located on the picturesque Taleigao Plateau, is offering Research Studentships for the academic year 2026-27. This initiative aims to support full-time Research Scholars who are enrolled in the Ph.D. program and holds provisional admission.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Research Studentship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be full-time Research Scholars registered in the Ph.D. program at Goa University.
• Applicants should hold a provisional admission to the Ph.D. program and should not have completed more than 8 terms at the time of application.
• Must possess at least a second class at graduation level.
• Must have a Master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade, or hold a research degree recognized by Goa University or another university acknowledged by Goa University.
• Applicants must not be in receipt of any other scholarship or studentship at the time of application.

Studentship Conditions

• The fellowship is typically awarded for a duration of 2 years from the date of award.
• It may be extended into the third and fourth year based on the recommendation of the committee, contingent on demonstrable progress in research and publication of research papers in journals recognized by the UGC Care list as of February 11, 2025.
• Scholars are required to register their attendance two times a day (morning and evening).
• Applications for continuation in the fellowship must be submitted during the second year, based on the recommendation of the Research Guide.
• If the provisional admission is not confirmed or is terminated, scholars must refund the fellowship amount.
• Selected scholars are entitled to a maximum of 30 days leave within an academic year; any leave beyond this will be without scholarship.

Application Process

To apply for the Research Studentship, applicants should:

• Obtain the prescribed application form, available through their respective discipline or program of the school, or from the Goa University website.
• Complete the form and submit it along with certified copies of the required documents, duly recommended and forwarded by their Research Guide.
• All applications must be submitted to the Directorate Office no later than September 30, 2026.
