Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) Recruitment for Company Commanders

The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has announced the recruitment of 65 Company Commanders within the Bihar Home Guard service cadre. These positions are aimed at capable individuals who are current members of the Bihar Home Guard and have met the requisite service experience criteria.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Possess a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification, completed by August 1, 2026.
• Current members of the Bihar Home Guard organization with at least 5 years of service or duty.
• A minimum of 10 years of remaining service as of the date of consideration is required.
• Special provisions are available for qualified candidates from the third gender.

Age Limit

The age limit for candidates is set between 24 to 50 years as of August 1, 2026.

Physical Standards

Physical standards for candidates are as follows:

• Minimum height is 165 cm for unreserved and backward-class men.
• 160 cm for extremely backward-class, Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe men.
• 155 cm for women candidates of all categories.
• Minimum weight for women must be 48 kg.
• Men must complete a 1-mile run in 6 minutes 30 seconds, while women must complete a 1-kilometer run in 6 minutes. The physical efficiency test also encompasses high jump, long jump, and shot put.

Pay Scale

The selected candidates for the Company Commander position will receive a pay level of 6, consistent with the Bihar government norms.

Prospective candidates are required to apply online through the Home Guard section of the BPSSC official website bpssc.bihar.gov.in. The application process includes the following steps:

• Registration with a valid mobile number and email ID.
• Payment of the application fee of ₹100, which can be processed via Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI.
• Completion of the application form, uploading of photographs and signatures, and subsequent submission.
• Only one online application is allowed per candidate.

Furthermore, there is a 35% horizontal reservation for Bihar-domiciled women and a 2% reservation for eligible descendants of freedom fighters.

Selection Process

The selection will involve a written competitive examination followed by a physical fitness test. The written examination comprises:

• A preliminary exam with one paper worth 200 marks and 100 questions.
• A main examination containing two papers, each carrying 200 marks.

Candidates scoring well in the main exam will be shortlisted for the physical efficiency test.
